Why?

I will be investigating how the media influences and portray eating disorders. There are rising trends when it comes to food and media – especially social media – that can be considered quite peculiar. Not all of these trends are healthy. In fact, I do not think that most of these trends are healthy and could lead to eating disorders. This topic is important to me and should be important to others do to the fact that we all most likely know at least one person suffering from an eating disorder.

How?

My research strongly consists of Internet searches and sources brought up by them. I chose this method of research as Galileo was not bringing up any material that I found relevant. It focused on either eating habits or media, but not on how the two may be connected.

What?

Americans have a high dose of media consumption.

Millions spent in dieting marketing.

Eating disorders in adolescent girls increased in the past 50 years.
