For this project, you will choose a local or global issue that pertains to problems in diversity and one or more of the topics addressed in this course (e.g., race and diversity; cultural identity; feminism and diversity; diversity through class, age, and ability; and diversity in the workplace).

Some examples of broad issues within these topics can be located in the Example Issues and Topics for Final Project document located in the Assignment Guidelines and Rubrics topic in the Start Here area. In this presentation, you will explain a chosen issue and how it pertains to culture, include problems in diversity and any applicable topics, and provide a plan of action for addressing this issue. This plan should include recommendations for improvements as well as strategies and a plan for implementing the recommendations. You will develop your plan as a multimedia presentation with an oral narration component. This oral component should be a recorded oral narration that accompanies your multimedia presentation. You will be required to provide written speaker notes that correspond with your presentation in a separate Word document. Be sure to support your answers with appropriate evidence from relevant and appropriate research.

Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed. These are not in any particular order and can be constructed in your presentation in any configuration. Most of the critical elements align with a particular course outcome (shown in brackets).

Milestone One: Introduction

In this section, you will examine the role of the individual in a global society and how problems in diversity influence aspects of culture and the individual. The final project represents a significant portion of your final grade, so it is imperative that your ideas are well developed. This milestone will be submitted as a Word document. Note that this document, with revisions, can serve as your speaker notes for the final project submission. This milestone will be graded with the Milestone One Rubric.

Milestone Two: Issue

In Module Three, you will submit a draft of the Issue section of your presentation. In this section, you will introduce your chosen issue and how it relates to problems in diversity and any of the topics that have been discussed in the course. This milestone will be submitted as a Word document. Note that this document, with revisions, can serve as your speaker notes for the final project submission. This milestone will be graded with the Milestone Two Rubric.

Milestone Three: Plan

In Module Five, you will submit a draft of the Plan section of your presentation. In this section, you will offer recommendations and a plan to improve the issue, as well as strategies for implementing your plan. You will also create the visual facet of your final project presentation. Keep in mind that your voice will be the primary carrier of your message and that visuals play a supporting role. You want your voice and visuals to work together and not compete for attention, so you should minimize the number of words on each slide and maximize the use of visual elements, including photos, illustrations, and graphs. This milestone has two deliverables. You will submit this milestone as a presentation draft in PowerPoint that includes visuals and a separate word document containing your speaker notes. This milestone will be graded with the Milestone Three Rubric.

Milestone Four: Presentation Practice/Tech Check

In Module Six, you will practice putting it all together. For this assignment, you will orally narrate the Plan section of your presentation using PowerPoint. This milestone will be assessed on a pass/fail basis.

Final Submission: Presentation

In Module Seven, you will submit your final project. It should be a complete, polished artifact containing all of the critical elements of the final product. It should

reflect the incorporation of feedback gained throughout the course. There should be two deliverables: your multimedia presentation and a separate Word document with speaker notes.
